Springtime is near and Willow Branch is gearing up to launch the 2017 on-site garden program. We had 42 thriving gardens planted in 2016 and expect at least this many for 2017. Residents are also given the opportunity to participate in the monthly on-site Farmers Market sponsored by Fresh Harvest (www.freshharvest.deliverybizpro.com) this summer. The power of the gardening program is that each tenant can harvest their own private plot in exchange for signing a contract and paying a small fee for deer netting. They can grow vegetables, herbs and fruit common to their diet and nationality. A popular choice is Hibiscus Roselle– a common green in the Asian and African cultures with seeds that are similar to cranberries and used for holiday teas and pies.
